Selah: "To Pause and Consider"
Thursday, May 17, 2012
A.B. Simpson - "If we would abide in Christ we must remember that Christ has undertaken not only the emergencies of life, but everything; and so we must cultivate the habit of constant dependence on Him; falling back on Him and finding Him everywhere; recognizing that He has undertaken the business of our life, and there is not a difficulty that comes up, but He will carry us through if we let Him have His way, and just trust Him."
SELAH!
A.B. Simpson (1843 - 1919) was a pastor, evangelist to the urban masses of New York City, and a missionary statesman. He is best known as one of the leading evangelicals involved in social work at the turn of the century and for founding The Christian and Missionary Alliance.
As much as possible, credit will be given to those whose "Selahs" have prompted my own consideration and meditation. Some are originial (probably not many) with me or are completely anonymous. (Disclaimer: I don't say that every "Selah" story is true, it's an illustration that is designed to get you to reflect upon the point of the story.)
