Selah: "To Pause and Consider"

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

A.W. Tozer - "The true Church has never sounded out public expectations before launching her mission. Her leaders heard from God, they knew their Lord's will and did it. Their people followed them - sometimes to triumph, oftener to insults and public persecution - and their sufficient reward was the satisfaction of being right in a wrong world!"

SELAH!

A.W. Tozer (1897 - 1963) was a modern day prophet, and a key figure in The Christian and Missionary Alliance. His legacy reaches through time and has impacted countless millions. A prolific author and pastor, Tozer was known for his emphasis on the deeper life movement. His message, informed as it was by A.B. Simpson the founder of The Alliance, brought the missionary call to a massive audience.

As much as possible, credit will be given to those whose "Selahs" have prompted my own consideration and meditation. Some are originial (probably not many) with me or are completely anonymous. (Disclaimer: I don't say that every "Selah" story is true, it's an illustration that is designed to get you to reflect upon the point of the story.)

Barkman

Missionary of the Month

The Garry Barkman Family - The Philippines

After getting his training at Moody Aviation in Elizabethton, TN, Garry took a wife and travelled to Venezuela where he flew as a missionary pilot with for New Tribes Missions. In the summer of 2000, they were transferred to Paraguay.

In February 2006 Garry and Cynthia moved their family and the aviation program to a new location in the Philippines where their co-workers and a newly-constructed hangar awaited them. God is at work in the Barkman family and we are glad that we have had a relationship with them in their training.
